In the study, scientists used several different extraction methods to analyze the leaves.

  • 70% ethanol

  • water

The 70% ethanol extract showed the strongest activity, because alcohol-based extractions can pull more compounds from plants.

However, water extracts β€” which resemble how avocado leaves are traditionally consumed as tea β€” still contained beneficial antioxidants and flavonoids.

This is a common pattern in plant research: laboratory extracts are stronger because they are concentrated, but tea remains one of the oldest and simplest ways to enjoy the plant’s natural compounds.
